The Fleur de Lis has lived many lives. In New Orleans and across the Gulf South, it represents resilience, culture, and the unmistakable rhythm of Creole and Cajun heritage. But its history also carries a painful truth. During slavery, this symbol was used by some to brand enslaved people who sought freedom. We do not ignore that reality. We acknowledge it.

At The Roux, we reclaim the Fleur de Lis with intention.
We lift it out of its past to redefine it as a mark of Black excellence, creativity, ownership, and economic power. Our fleur is no longer a brand of punishment. It is a badge of progress.

We honor the ancestors who survived.
We celebrate the innovators rising now.
We invest in the generations coming next.

The Roux uses this symbol to stand for the future we are building in Southern Dallas:
